NEW! Equipment - With some many choices on the market, it may seem overwhelming which camera to choose, what kind of ancillary tools will I need? This blog will attempt to answer some of these questions while touching on the basics of professional photography.

Field blog - where nature meets blogger photographer - I really need to get out there more often! Do you agree!? Where to?? If you love photography, the world is your oyster! No need for long exotic trips unless that's your thing or your goal is to work for National Geographic magazine. You can find virtually endless photo opportunities in as close as your backyard or as far away as day trips to parks, the ocean beaches, the mountains and rivers or into the cities where you live. IMPORTANT TIP: If you are photographing faces, you will need to have the subject sign a release form. You can find a model release form for general use online using google search.

Technical Info - what's a blog for anyway? To share information so here goes! My main camera: Nikon D7000 - already considered obsolete, it has served me well! With the potential for spending thousands of dollars to replace 'her', I'll stick with my Nikon D7000 until it croaks! I carry two standard lenses, a wide angle/macro multi-purpose lens, brand HOYA Skylight; 55mm and Tameron, Tele-macro 70-300mm with an infinity feature and auto-focus. I like online comparison shopping to find the best deals on equipment and supplies. I did invest in a medium grade tripod with onboard bubble level. I love that bubble although my camera does have a horizon grid built in, sometimes it's handier to check the level on the tripod! I do also like that each leg on the tripod can be individually adjusted for uneven terrain. Other equipment includes standard filters, an attached to my camera strap-lens cleaning cloth; two camera rain coats to keep water from getting into the camera and a light meter for indoor shots. I have a cable self-timing for self portraits or group shots but I rarely use it.
