The question comes up; what are some tricks and tips to great photo captures especially when working with children who can be pretty unpredictable? Photography is more than snapping a photo and hoping it turns out! Getting acquainted and making clients feel comfortable prior to snapping those first shots is, in my view, crucial to a successful shoot. Start with a consult prior to the photo session; ask some reasonable questions to get to know the clients with respect to their interests and if children will be part of the shoot, by all means, ask about their personalities & don't be shy to get down on their level! If they are very shy, be cautious and respectful in approaching them with a camera! Ask the parents for their assist if need be and finally reward positive cooperation, with parents permission of course. Sometimes, I'll admit, photographing children in particular can be quite challenging - but the rewards are great! Questions/comments? Please share! Enjoy!
